Smile & The Whole World Smiles with You

A smile. Probably the most powerful gesture on the planet. It doesn’t cost anything and it benefits both the person doing it and the person receiving it. A smile breaks tension, tells people a little something about who you are, how you’re feeling and it puts them at ease.

You see, a smile from a stranger or a loved one positively affirms that we are indeed loved and appreciated. According to the old adage, it takes forty-three muscles to frown and only seventeen to smile – so smiling is economical too!

Smiling makes you more attractive

Charles Gourdy famously said; “A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks!” Simply, we find others more attractive when they are wearing a smile. Think about someone who you know when they are down, sad, angry, frustrated, whatever it may be. How attractive are they? Now picture them simply with a smile on their face. You get the point?!

Smiling is contagious

Like a yawn, smiling is something that can’t be ignored. Give a smile to the world and the world will smile back at you. You will brighten the days of those around and make a difference in their lives… simply by smiling!

Every time you smile, you leave a lasting mark!

Wrinkles get a bad rap. However, if we think of them as permanent marks of our emotional feelings throughout the course of our life, we may be more positive about them. Smiling leaves permanent marks of happiness and when you speak with those later in life, you will automatically be smiling!

Smiling just makes you feel good

Smiling releases serotonin – a neurotransmitter that produces feelings of happiness and wellbeing. It’s like a circle of happiness. Smile and you feel happy, you feel happy and you smile! Even when you’re not feeling great, try smiling, genuinely, and see how you feel.

Smiling helps you build better relationships, faster

Smiling is a key ingredient when it comes to making a good first impression. Smiling when you first meet someone will indicate to the other person that you are welcoming, open and that you are a positive person. And, if you only want to leave one mark, surely it’s that.
